The party was founded on September 3, 1945, by a group of intellectuals in the fields of science, technology, education, and culture who were inspired by the victory over fascism and sought to contribute to the reconstruction and development of China.<br /><br />Unlike Western political parties that often compete for power, the Jiusan Society, like other minor parties in China, participates in the political process in a consultative role.
