The China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD) is one of the eight legally recognized minor political parties in the People's Republic of China that operate under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC). It also focuses on issues related to education, science, culture, and the welfare of intellectuals, reflecting its historical roots and constituency.<br /><br />In practice, the CAPD contributes to the political process through participation in the National People's Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), where it can propose legislation and policy recommendations. Members of the CAPD, like those of other minor parties, are often professionals and intellectuals, which allows the party to provide expert advice in its areas of focus.
